The 8th annual New York Salsa Congress was a beautiful event, starting with parties in various NY Salsa Clubs days before the official event. The congress itself lasted from Aug. 27-31 including amazing and breathtaking afternoon and evening shows performed in a spacious Hilton congress hall with theater style seating arrangement. (Unfortunately, recording and photographs of the shows were not allowed). In the daytime a range of workshops with instructors like Eddie Torres, Hacha y Machete, Edie, Al Espinoza, Maykel Fonts, Juan Matos and many many more, teaching NY style on1 and on2, Cha Cha, Rumba, Belly Dancing ;-) etc. were offered. Fervid parties to songs from live bands like Ray Rodriguez y Sabroso Swing, Adalberto Santiago or Tito Allen and to music of local DJs followed the shows and lasted till 4 a.m. in the air-conditioned Hilton hall on an extremely good dance floor. The whole event was topped by a dancing cruise on the Hudson River round Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty on Monday after the official congress finish. The congress was perfectly organized, everything was on time as scheduled. Please find here the Photos from this years Congress ! Don’t miss it next year!
